About Engagement Rings
An engagement ring is a ring indicating that the person wearing it is engaged to be married. Engagement rings are worn traditionally on the left ring finger and can have diamonds or any variety of color gemstone, this varies from cultures. In many cultures the engagement ring is worn on the right hand until the wedding day. On that day, the ring is transferred to the left hand. After marrying, the couple may wear both the engagement ring and the wedding bands. Some brides like to wear them together while others wear them separately.
Often times the bride will have the two rings soldered together. Sometimes couples wear matching his and her matching wedding bands. The engagement rings are generally in white gold, yellow gold, platinum, titanium, silver, or tungsten. In many cases the engagement ring is considered a “conditional gift”. The “modern trend” states that once the engagement is over, then the ring must be returned to the person whom purchased it.
